BRIEF DESCRIPTION :
The Central Library of Ujani Majuli Kherkatia College is one of the finest and most valuable educational resources in Ujani Majuli. Since its establishment in 1987 (originating from 1973), the library has been dedicated to providing effective and quality services to students, teachers, and readers.
Starting with only a small collection of books, the library has gradually developed into a rich and growing center of knowledge. Today, the library proudly houses more than 13,000 volumes of books covering various subjects and disciplines. In addition to books, the library subscribes to 2 journals, 3 magazines, and 2 newspapers in both Assamese and English languages, helping students stay informed and academically enriched.
The library building is spacious and well-equipped, covering approximately 1,500 square feet on the ground floor and 1,000 square feet on the upper floor. The peaceful and student-friendly environment of the library encourages learning, research, and intellectual growth.
To meet the needs of modern education, the college also has a separate ICT Room for computer education and digital learning. Students can access internet facilities and gather information through online resources, making the library a blend of traditional and modern learning systems.
The Central Library of Ujani Majuli Kherkatia College truly stands as a growing organism of knowledge, wisdom, and academic excellence, playing a vital role in the educational development of the students and the community.
READING ROOM FACILITIES :
The reading room of the Central Library has a well-furnished seating arrangement accommodating more than 80 students at a time. Separate reading and seating facilities are also available for teachers, students, and specially-abled users to ensure a comfortable and inclusive learning environment for all.
Every year, the library authority organizes a Library Orientation Programme for newly admitted students to familiarize them with the library resources, rules, facilities, and services. This programme helps students develop effective library usage habits and encourages academic learning and research.
In addition to the central collection, departmental Book Bank facilities are available in seven teaching departments. These facilities provide students with easy access to essential textbooks and reference materials, supporting their academic needs throughout the session.

RULES OF THE LIBRARY
1. Students must enter the library in proper college uniform and maintain discipline and decorum within the library premises.
2. Library books should be handled with utmost care and responsibility. If any book is lost or damaged by a student, the student must replace it with a new copy of the same book or bear the cost as per library rules.
3. All library books must be returned before the issuance of the Examination Admit Card. Students failing to return books within the prescribed time may not be eligible to receive their admit card until clearance from the library is obtained.
4. Silence and a peaceful academic environment must be maintained at all times inside the library and reading room.
5. Students are expected to make proper and respectful use of all library resources, furniture, and facilities.

Working Hours
The library remains open on all working days from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. to provide academic and information services to students, teachers, and users.
